Why Korea, and why now

Since mid-2026, Korean electronics face a capped all-in US duty, while the same parts from China still carry the Section 301 lists on top of the new forced-labor duty. Vietnam plants run by Korean groups add a lower-cost option.

OriginTypical duty, List 1–3 electronics partWhere it fits
Korea12.5% all-inQuality-critical parts; buyers who need non-China origin
Vietnam (Korean-owned plant)about 13–18%Cost-sensitive volume parts
Chinaabout 40%Starting point only: qualify a second source or move production out
